How to write a cover letter

A cover letter completes and accompanies the curriculum vitae. Its purpose is to attract the prospective employer’s interest in order to invite the candidate to an interview.

The cover letter should be:

  • Short (3-4 paragraphs) and not exceeding one page
  • Legible and clear
  • Written without spelling and syntax errors
  • Written in a professional way and with reference to the specific job opening
  • Directed to a specific person of the company, if possible
